Is an employer allowed to “let you go” after an injury at work?

by admin on May 17, 2010

I was hurt last week at work and am on a 90 day probation. On Friday, after my shift they decided to "let me go". I was told they aren’t allowed to do that. Can someone let me know where I can find this information out.

If you went to a Doctor and received a note stating that you were unable to work, then no. If you did this, your company’s human resources department should have then provided you with paperwork to apply for Workers Compensation. At that point, depending on the State you live in, you’d have usually up to 16 weeks without losing your job.
