What would happen to your workers if you put cable television in the workplace?

by admin on May 30, 2010

I am in the military. Several years ago, the base installed cable TV in many of the workplaces here on base. Now, I think that people are making serious mishaps in part because their minds are not on their jobs anymore because their watching too much Cable TV and playing to many video games at work.

I can’t say that too much cable tv and video games could cause rollover accidents and other costly mishaps; however, I wouldn’t want to rule out the possiblity that Cable TV and video games are a contribuiting factor.

What do you guys think?

I think you have answered your own question here. By the way are you at work now? Using the Internet to ask about distractions in the work place.

It may most likely decrease workplace productivity and make things more complicated. Most of the time it does anyways.

this is definitely true as a lot of people do their work half heartedly if their mind is somewhere else

the cable and games should be provided in clubhouses or rec facilities where people who are not currently working can watch them

the workplace will have to be "relocated" to their homes 🙂

Well, I’m a programmer and I can’t do my job if I have someone talking in my ear, musics okay, but if I were to listen to the radio or the TV I’d definitely make alot of mistakes. If someone needs to keep their eyes on what they’re doign, having a TV around is a no-no. If someone needs to keep their mind on what they’re doing having any kind of audio entertainment with speech in it can be bad…
